About This Joint
In last week's article, I featured an illustration of one of my favorite Hip-Hop emcees and gave you somewhat of an in-depth look at how I construct my creative can assemblages.
I had so much fun working on the KRS-One Can I decided to take some more time off from the god of forces mural I have been wrapped in for the last year to immortalize another legend from a list of artists who have not only influenced my life in some way but have shaken things up and played a certain role on the world's stage.
As you can see we have the ODB, Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard, Aka Osiris, The Specialist, Dirt McGirt, etc.
Growing up in Mid-city Los Angeles Graffiti and Hip-Hop influenced my life on so many levels and I remember when the 90's hit and Wu-Tang took the industry by storm and killed it with hits like 36 chambers, protect ya neck and C.R.E.A.M.
For me, there was a connection to ODB's don't give a fuck attitude, I'll probably get some flak for saying this, Dirty to the Clan was like what Sid Vicious was to the Sex Pistols.
If you know anything about Sid and ODB I'll let you draw your own conclusions on that one.
When I reminisce on punk rocks Sex Pistols my mind begins with Sid, and when I ponder on Wu-Tang the ODB takes center stage.
With that said, below is a series of progress shots of my journey putting together the ODB assemblage. RIP Russel Jones.
Commission Your Custom Can Creation
Rock your modern space with artwork that goes beyond the traditional by commissioning collectible Custom Can Creations.
While the process may appear to be simple the reality is these mixed media pieces can be quite complex as they are small scale and there is a lot of detail required not only in the illustration itself but in the overall design as it must be cohesive with its canvas.
