I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the new 12,000 square foot Downtown Los Angeles Corey Helford Gallery, which launched its space with a new 21-piece exhibition containing original pieces encompassing oil paintings, sculptures, and two installations by the epic contemporary American pop artist Ron English and his mind blowing exhibit, "NeoNature: We Are the New They".
This is Ron's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles in two years and runs through January 9, 2016.
I didn't get to explore the vast array of work as much as I would have liked to, due to the crowd, as expected, but I got to hang with some cool people and have some good dialogue, which I am eternally grateful, nevertheless, what I did get to see up close and personal, was somewhat of a paradox, because when you see Ron's work online, it is super clean and doesn't really give you the nitty gritty so to speak of what he does, as far as technique and the overall composition of his work.
When you see his work live, you have the chance to absorb the material design, layers, media and everything else he utilizes to create jaw dropping work.
In short, Ron's work does what good art should do, it inspires and ruminates in all the senses.
